Poetry to Inspire

For day 22 of National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo) A tribute to Earth Day

Brilliant sunshine this morning

in a bright blue, cloudless sky,

off to a good start to celebrate

Earth Day and all reasons why.

To create a valid awareness

of what we all need to do

to protect our fragile environment,

for it depends on me and on you.

Balance in nature is crucial,

but we disturb what’s meant to be.

Man-made plans don’t always work,

damaging our ecology.

There is a supply and demand law

and a give and take rule too,

a natural food chain exists,

yet we don’t let nature follow through.

We reap what we sow in this world,

be it seeds, bulbs or good/bad ideas,

but unfortunately those same rules have seen

much destruction over the years.

We’ve created endangered species

by not ensuring good education.

Let’s try to take better care of our world

in every way in every nation.
