Let’s celebrate Canada every day,
not just July 1st each year,
remembering how fortunate
we are to be living here.
We have so many opportunities
and also the freedom to choose.
Participating is what’s important,
no matter if we win or lose.
We can express opinions
on all topics to which we relate,
by word of mouth or in print—
that’s a big reason to celebrate.
Natural beauty is evident
in this vast country of ours,
rivers, lakes, mountains, forests,
meadows – I could go on for hours.
Appreciate all your surroundings,
both near to you and far,
whether you’re walking close to home
or going for a drive in your car.
Take a quiet moment
to be grateful, to feel at peace,
it empowers body, soul and mind
and allows stress to be released.
Celebrate with family and friends,
associates and neighbours too.
Be aware of your surroundings
and treasure each unique view.
Have a safe and wonder-filled long weekend everyone.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL MY FRIENDS IN THE USA
On this Thanksgiving Sunday
I gaze out to the east
at another lovely sunrise,
to my eyes and soul, a feast.
I’d like the peace and quiet
I’m experiencing right now
to be felt worldwide in others
as we all connect somehow.
I’m grateful I’m alive and well
in my spirit and my soul.
I can overcome aches and pains
that make me feel less than whole.
Today we’ll cook a turkey
to share with family and a friend.
It will be a fun and happy time
as our personalities blend.
Some of us have challenges
that are difficult to face,
but we’ll be guided through them
with loving support and Grace.
As greens change to yellow and red
and daylight succumbs more to night,
I appreciate all that autumn provides,
scenery becomes a delight.
Sunrise into a striped cloudy sky,
outlining trees with pink, gold and blue,
made me take some photographs
of that spectacular view.
I enjoy early morning quiet time
before busyness starts once more.
Time to energize and prioritize,
so I enjoy tasks, not make them a chore.
We’re starting a long weekend,
it’s Canadian Thanksgiving.
Stay safe and travel well my friends.
Be kind, loving and forgiving.
Be grateful for all around you—
people, places and things.
Don’t forget to say “Thank you”
and return the smile that brings.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Sunrise – cold, frosty morning,
a new year has begun.
My wishes are for good health and joy,
Happy New Year everyone.
As we contemplate the year ahead,
with our hopes, dreams and desires,
remember to enjoy the journey
and ignite some creative fires.
Softly close the door on the past,
allow it to drift away.
We’ve learned from those experiences
and can now enjoy this new day.
Each moment passes quickly by
as our life is being renewed –
new breath, new cells, new energy.
Let’s focus on gratitude.
We’re not meant to know what lies ahead,
we just have this moment right now –
to live, to love and to be loved
so let’s do it – we’ll be shown how.
Happy new beginnings everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the USA
